Expression of Interest for a Contractor to Design and Build a Bike Skills Park
**Pedal Junction is a volunteer-led organization and we are looking for a contractor to help us design and build a Bike Skills Park in Dakwakada/Haines Junction Summer-Fall 2024.
This Expression of Interest seeks to find a contractor with a history of designing and building Bike Skills Parks. Preference may be given to a Yukon-based contractor. This Expression of Interest will help Pedal Junction volunteers develop our application to the Community Development Fund and other potential funders. This Expression of Interest will be used to identify and shortlist candidates for the Bike Skills Park project and does not constitute an offer.
Objective and Deliverables
Scope of Work**
We anticipate developing approximately half hectare of land for a beginner to intermediate bike skills park. We want to incorporate features linked-together such as rollers, berms, tabletop jumps, favouring pumping over pedalling. A built area with balance features made out of wood such as ladders, bridges, teeter totters, that are low to the ground and kid-friendly.
To build the park, Pedal Junction wishes to engage a Bike Skills Park contractor to provide the following:
- Design Work: Provide estimates for the anticipated costs of a detailed site plan for the Bike Skills Park that includes but is not limited to:
- planning costs to work with Pedal Junction volunteers to collaboratively design the Park;
- site selection considerations;
- detailed site plans;
- engineered plans, where applicable; and
- trail specialist review.
- Construction Materials, Equipment, and Project Management: Provide estimates for the anticipated costs of the project that includes but is not limited to:
- dirt/soil/gravel costs and trucking costs;
- equipment rental;
- labour costs;
- fuel, supplies and other materials costs; and
- any other related costs.
- Contract Administration Costs: Any costs to be borne by the successful proponent that includes but is not limited to:
- contractor insurance, WCB and other administrative/safety costs for the execution of the project;
- any travel and lodging costs anticipated for the project; and
- any other related project costs.
Submitting an Expression of Interest
Please note that the timing of this project will depend on the approval of funding. Your proposal should consider volunteer engagement, support and labour (where appropriate) during the design and construction phases of this project. The anticipated timing for this project is June to October 2024.
Your Expression of Interest must include:
- An understanding of the project intent, including an overview of the proposed approach to be used by the contractor (100-500 words)
- A project budget estimate.
- A description of the contractor team that includes relevant qualifications and examples of previous work and experience.
